Welsummer Project Eggs
This is an ongoing project I started in Winter 2023, focused on creating lighter base eggs with heavy speckling, bold blotches, and strong bloom.
You may receive some eggs that lean darker brown, but many carry a heavy bloom that can give them that soft mauve/pink-toned appearance, especially in the spring. That bloom is where the magic happens.
The hens in this pen are paired with roosters hatched from heavily speckled, bloom-heavy eggs, meaning the offspring have strong potential to produce:
• Pink and mauve blooms
• Bold speckling
• Large, dramatic blotches
This program is always evolving. I actively select and rotate in roosters from bloomy, heavily speckled, blotchy lines to continue improving speckling expression and overall egg character in future generations.
In other words—this isn’t random. It’s intentional, and it’s getting better every generation. Remember, genetics aren’t a vending machine—you don’t press a button and get the exact result every time.
Shipping prices are changing faster than chicks grow feathers, this is how we are handling it:
Shipping is calculated after purchase. Before anything goes out, I’ll reach out with a full lineup of carrier options, speeds, and prices—think of it like a menu, but instead of dinner, you’re choosing how fast your package gets to your door.
You pick what works best for you.
I personally prefer UPS over USPS or FedEx for the best overall experience.
If you choose USPS, your package will be marked “HOLD FOR PICKUP” and include the phone number you provided on your invoice.
This does NOT guarantee the Post Office will call you—you are responsible for contacting them and arranging pickup.
You are NOT getting the exact eggs pictured.
If you want current egg photos, head over to Instagram or Facebook—I post them daily.Every dozen is hand-selected, but no two are identical. That’s part of the beauty of working with real, living genetics.
Quick note before you grab eggs:
Speckles and bloom change daily. Variety isn’t a flaw—it’s the magic.
The egg you receive ≠ the egg she’ll lay.
If we did our job, expect speckles, blotches, and pink blooms.
But first… you’ve got to raise her. We’ve got some seriously impressive roosters working these pens, and they’re doing their job well.
This isn’t Build-A-Bear—you don’t get to pick the exact outcome. If that is what you are looking for, we are not a good fit.
