Silverudd’s Blu Project Eggs (Color, Bloom & Backbone)

These aren’t your average green eggs.

My Silverudd’s lay vibrant, high-saturation shades ranging from mint to teal, with the occasional deeper olive. Color is bright, clean, and eye-catching—not dull, muddy, or washed out.

All roosters are O/O (homozygous for the blue egg gene), and I am actively working on testing all hens to confirm the same.
Translation: blue egg genetics are locked in on the sire side and being solidified across the program.

Let’s talk about the direction of this project:

My birds come from second imports—and that choice was intentional.

First imports tend to be closer to SOP, but many lines have struggled with respiratory weakness from overbreeding, which is why so many people have difficulty keeping them alive (especially as chicks or shipped eggs).

I chose to build from hardier, more robust lines with strong health and productivity—even if that meant starting with egg color that leans more blue/teal than traditional olive.

From there, I’ve introduced a rooster more aligned with correct olive tone, and I’m working generation by generation to bring that depth in—without sacrificing health or performance.

Program additions:

We have added additional O/O blue, black, and splash roosters from heavily speckled lines to further strengthen color, bloom, and speckling potential in future generations.

What these birds bring to the table:

• Strong, consistent layers (many laying close to daily)
• Excellent health and hardiness (heat & cold tolerant)
• Predator-aware, good foragers
• Calm, independent temperament
• Gentle, reliable roosters

These are working birds, not fragile showpieces—and it shows.

Let’s talk aesthetics (because yes… they’re stunning):

My flock is primarily raven black and splash, with some birchen leakage in hackles—which may not be “preferred,” but adds serious visual appeal in my opinion.

I also work with lines carrying heavy speckling genetics, which opens the door for some really fun outcomes—especially if you’re planning:

- F1 Olive Eggers (crossed with something like Welsummer)
- Backcross Olive Egger programs

If you know what you’re doing… these are a solid foundation.

Now—expectations (read this part twice):

The egg you receive is NOT an exact preview of what that hen will lay.

You’re working with genetics, not a copy machine.

You may get mint, teal, blue-leaning, or deeper tones depending on how things develop.
That variation is part of the program—not a flaw.

What you’re getting:

• 12 Silverudd’s Blu hatching eggs
• I try to include 2 extras (same type or best available that day)
• A range of green/teal shades typical of the breed
• Some eggs may include light speckling or frosted bloom

If you’re looking for fragile, perfectly uniform, textbook birds—this isn’t that.

If you’re looking for vibrant egg color, strong genetics, hardy birds, and real breeding potential
welcome to the program.

Shipping prices are changing faster than a kid who just heard “no,” so here’s how we handle it:

Shipping is calculated after purchase. Before anything goes out, I’ll reach out with a full lineup of carrier options, speeds, and prices—think of it like a menu, but instead of dinner, you’re choosing how fast your package gets to your door.

You pick what works best for you.

I personally prefer UPS over USPS or FedEx for the best overall experience.

If you choose USPS, your package will be marked “HOLD FOR PICKUP” and include the phone number you provided on your invoice.

This does NOT guarantee the Post Office will call you—you are responsible for contacting them and arranging pickup.

This is a curated egg buying experience—not a free-for-all, not a free-for-all with attitude, and definitely not a “click now, panic later” situation.
