The egg colors my ladies produce are very vibrant and range from mint to teal and the occassional darker olive. My rooster Fabio has been tested for the blue egg gene and is Homozygous. We are slowly working on testing all the hens too and hope to have that accomplished by Spring of 2026. Additionally, Fabio hails from heavily speckled lines (see the photos of his hatch mate siblings). My hens are mostly black and splash. I do have a bunch of grow-outs that are splash and blue/grey but they won't be ready until 2026. You can learn all about the Silverrudd's Blu heritage breed here.
I love Silverrudd's that carry heavy speckling genetics and pairing that to a heavily speckled brown layer, like a Welsummer, to make some of the prettiest F1OE's and the start to an awesome foundation to your BackCross Olive Egger program. I actually love the raven colored Black and the Splash Silverudd's. While the birchen in the hackles isn't prefered, it is accepted and the majority of my hens are raven black but a few have some birchen in their hackles -- I actually think it makes them really stunning.
Silverudds are good foragers, predator savvy, hardy in both heat and cold, and excellent layers. They are good with people but tend to mind their own business. The roosters are great flock leaders and very gentle, and hens don't often go broody, all characteristics you want in your F1OE hyrbrids and BackCross Olive Egger programs.
This is a selection of 12 eggs + 2 extra of whatever is available that day. These are a pretty combination of a variety of different shades of green the Silverudd's are known for. Some have light speckles or frosted/white speckling.
This price includes shipping. I can ship 1 dozen (12 eggs). I prefer UPS over USPS. UPS ground and USPS are included in the price. You can upgrade to UPS 2-Day Air or 3 Day Select if you are far away. I include 2 extra of whatever is available that day. These are shipped in Egg Foam Shippers and double boxed. If you choose USPS, I include "HOLD FOR PICKUP" and the phone number you provided on the invoice. This does NOT guarantee that the Post Office will call you. YOU need to go and speak to them and let them know you want to pick it up. You can purchase heat packs here.
* You are not getting the EXACT eggs pictured. For current photos, visit our instagram and facebook pages as I post new egg photos daily.
ABOUT OUR BIRDS
Our birds are hand raised and handled daily. They are pasture raised and supplemented with a non-GMO, six-way scratch feed, non-GMO Grower Feed, and non-GMO layer feed by Nature Crest. Additionally, they get Cluckin Good Herbs from Scratch-N-Peck, organic sesame seeds, organic flax seeds, kelp, mealworms, black soldier flies, and table scraps. They roam our pastures 24/7/365 and live out in the fresh mountain air and sunshine. They are never sick, never have parasites, and are very hearty, healthy birds. We maintain a very small flock.
