I love Cream Legbars. Their adorable little crests, their mild personalities, they rarely go broody, they are prolific layers that are auto-sexing and they start laying at 5 months. When paired with a brown layer like a Marans or a Welsummer, they make excellent F1OE's and they bring with them a lot of their traits into their offspring hybrid birds. I especially love Cream Legbars x Speckled Welsummer F1OE's and these are the foundation to any awesome BackCross Olive Egger program. I think I love these more than Marans X Blue Egg Layer pairing.
Right now I am using a Cream Legbar rooster over Cream Legbar hens and Opal Legbar hens. I do have a future Opal Rooster but he has about 10 more weeks of developing before I can add him to my program.
For now, I am calling these Cream Legbars and will change this when my Opal Rooster is breeding the hens.
When a Cream Legbar rooster is bred to Opal Legbar hens, the offspring will be auto-sexing and visually similar to Cream Legbars, but will carry the lavender gene. This means that the chicks can be sexed at hatch based on their down color, with males having a lighter spot on their head and females having distinct "chipmunk stripes". The resulting birds will also be barred lavender in color, which is the characteristic of Opal Legbars.
This is a selection of 12 eggs + 2 extra of whatever is available that day. These are a pretty combination of a variety of different shades of blue the Cream Legbars are known for.
This price includes shipping. I can ship 1 dozen (12 eggs). I prefer UPS over USPS. UPS ground and USPS are included in the price. You can upgrade to UPS 2-Day Air or 3 Day Select if you are far away. I include 2 extra of whatever is available that day. These are shipped in Egg Foam Shippers and double boxed. If you choose USPS, I include "HOLD FOR PICKUP" and the phone number you provided on the invoice. This does NOT guarantee that the Post Office will call you. YOU need to go and speak to them and let them know you want to pick it up. You can purchase heat packs here.
* You are not getting the EXACT eggs pictured. For current photos, visit our instagram and facebook pages as I post new egg photos daily.
