The Dark Roast Reserve is a curated collection of heirloom brown eggs, each chosen for its deep, rich color from our renowned Burberry BackCross program.  These exquisite eggs embody generations of careful breeding and promise not just stunning colors, but offer discerning breeders the opportunity to nurture strong, elegant, vibrant birds.  This collection is for those who value the art of breeding as much as the beauty of the birds themselves.

This is a selection of 12 eggs + 2 extra. These are a pretty combination of a variety of different shades of brown eggs. Some have speckles and blooms. 
 
Shipping prices are changing faster than a kid who just heard “no,” so here’s how we handle it:
Shipping is calculated after purchase. Before anything goes out, I’ll reach out with a full lineup of carrier options, speeds, and prices—think of it like a menu, but instead of dinner, you’re choosing how fast your package gets to your door.
You pick what works best for you.
 
I personally prefer UPS over USPS or FedEx for the best overall experience.
If you choose USPS, your package will be marked “HOLD FOR PICKUP” and include the phone number you provided on your invoice.

This does NOT guarantee the Post Office will call you—you are responsible for contacting them and arranging pickup.
 
This is a curated egg buying experience—not a free-for-all, not a free-for-all with attitude, and definitely not a “click now, panic later” situation.
 
These genetics are limited, intentional, and the result of a very selective breeding program. Because of that, we are limiting sales to individuals who understand genetics, respect the process, and can communicate like grown adults.
Each dozen is thoughtfully selected for the buyer. This is a personalized experience—not a grab bag.
If you feel a meltdown coming on… go ahead and sit this one out. We wish you emotional peace and store-bought eggs.
 
You are NOT getting the exact eggs pictured.

Every dozen is hand-selected, but no two are identical. That’s part of the beauty of working with real, living genetics.
 
Quick note before you grab eggs:
These are backcrosses and are covered by multiple roosters. That means variety is part of the package—and also part of the magic.
 
The egg color you receive is NOT the exact egg color that the hen will lay later on. She should lay darker olives or browns, but you’ve got to raise her first.
We’ve got some seriously impressive roosters working these pens, and they’re doing their job well.
 
Now—let’s talk expectations:
This isn’t Build-A-Bear—you don’t get to pick the exact outcome. Egg color will naturally fade as the laying season progresses. That does NOT mean the genetics are gone.
This is a long game. Patience is part of the process.
 
And let’s go ahead and clear this up once and for all:
The egg you receive is NOT the egg color that hen will lay.
There is no instant gratification here.
You don’t hatch her and get immediate results.
You raise her.
You develop her.
You wait.
